Running away from home! Help !?
Friday, July 9th, 2010Okay I am 16 years old . I have a job, and a bus ticket to florida . a real estate agent in tampa is going to rent me a house. i can afford it , and i can support myself. I am very mature. what happens if the police find me in florida is that even possible?? I live in indiana. My parents have no idea. they are abusive and mean to me. i am going to do this , this weekend no matter what. I’m turning 17 in 2 months. would the police even suspect me in florida?? what would they do, and how would i stay under the radar?
What happens if i turn 18 , and i make it that long will they keep looking for me?
there is no emancipation process in the state of indiana so i cannot do that

I would be very leery of any real estate agent that would rent to a 17 year old. Did you meet this guy on the Internet? Did you find him through a real property site, or did you meet him in some chat room? A lot of people "help" runaways by getting them into dealing drugs or prostitution.
Is there anywhere where you can go? I mean a friend’s house, a relative in another state? If that state had emancipation, you could possibly file there.
Once you turn 18, you are an adult in the law’s eyes. If they tried to drag you back, it would be kidnapping.
